Webelos Weekend Update

Good evening Troop 648,

I have received encouraging feedback from at least 2 of the Cub Scout packs we contacted regarding our upcoming Webelos weekend. From pack 448, we have one confirmation of a family’s attendance for camping, and two additional possibilities which will finalize by yearend. From pack 316, two of the den leaders are bringing their sons, and they have opened it up to their Webelos den as a replacement activity for the event originally planned for that day. They were going on a hike, but have instead changed their January 9th event to be spending their afternoon and early evening with us. They will provide us with a total head count within the next week or so. They would arrive sometime after noon, spend the afternoon, dinner and campfire with us, and head home later in the evening. Thus, we have the opportunity of perhaps a half dozen cub scouts with assorted parents and leaders attending our event. That stated, I would recommend that we finalize preparations:

Mr. Huston and patrol leaders: Have we finalized the afternoon’s activities? Which scouting skills will we be doing – first aid, fire by friction, a hike, monkey bridge, others? How are the campfire skits coming together?

As you prepare for this holiday season, keep your family in its rightful place in the forefront of your mind and heart. But keep your scouting family in mind, too – this event coming quickly in January will be as memorable for the cub scouts as we choose to make it.
